I love it! What a great post Andrea. Just goes to show that we all have 'heroes' in our own backyard. We need to celebrate our own healing/victories/triumphs and those of our friends, family members and neighbours as enthusiastically as (if not more so than) those that are emblazoned by the media. It is the sum total of these 'local' victories that can truly change our society.

This is 100% about me.. I am crying every day. I am the same.. Used to run every day and went to dances twice a week. My husband tells me to be happy that we have a great son. I am happy about my son but there is no real me any more - cannot be cheafully run and jump any more. I am with pain there every day. Because the docs decided that birth tears will get together themselves after they opened 4 days after the delivery. I am from another side of the Globe, in another country, but all is the same.

I completely understand. My husband's mother lived with us until just a few months ago. She now resides permanently in an aged care facility due to vascular dementia. Whatever common ground we had while she lived with us is now gone and yes, she lives 'behind the curtain' now and we miss her everyday. I found her dementia so much easier to live with than to visit. If it weren't for incontinence and her tendency to wander, she'd still be with us. I wish you and your mother many moments of joy - bittersweet though they may be.

I'm rather impressed with this blog dedicated to life after birth injury. I'd like to feature it in a blog of my own, if that's alright. :)

Hey - Great post, great writing. You're a natural for this blogging thing. Loved the visual of the fridge door toppling over with the weight of all those never used sauces. Do you still have any PC Memories of Kobe marinade? Are you going to no-name, too?

I am so sorry. Having an aunt with dementia, I can only begin to know/imagine what it must be like.
On another note, hope you enjoyed your day with your daughters.
